After Builders Cleaning
Plaster dust does not settle once. It settles, gets disturbed by the next movement in the room, and settles again — which is why this job is done in stages, and why a single pass always disappoints.
Why the dust comes back after you have cleaned
Plaster, MDF and cement dust is far finer than household dust. Disturb it and it stays in the air for hours before falling — which means anything you wipe in the first ten minutes is dirty again by the time you finish the room.
So we work in three passes rather than one. First the bulk: debris, packaging, protective film, the heavy deposits on floors and sills. Then the detail, top-down, once the air has cleared — the ledges, frames, trims and fittings where dust actually hides. Then the finish: glass, chrome and floors, last, so nothing falls on them afterwards.
Vacuuming is done with HEPA filtration. An ordinary vacuum passes the finest particles straight through the motor and back into the room, which is exactly the dust you are trying to remove.

When to book it — and the mistake most people make
The clean belongs after the last trade has left and before carpets, blinds and furniture arrive. That order matters: an electrician doing second fix will drill, and drilling means dust on everything you have just paid to clean.
The most common mistake is booking it too early because the site "looks finished". If a trade is still due back, tell us — we would rather move the date than clean twice.
In EN2 — Enfield Chase, Forty Hill, Grange Park — most of what we clean is extensions and loft conversions on 1930s houses, where the dust travels well beyond the room that was worked on. We quote for the whole house in those cases, not just the new part.

Questions we are asked most
Do you clean more than once?
The price includes the multi-stage method described above within a single visit — bulk, detail, then finish. Some sites need a second visit a few days later once the last of the airborne dust has fallen, and on larger jobs we will tell you up front if we think that is likely rather than after the fact.
Do you remove rubbish and packaging?
We remove packaging, protective film and the debris generated by cleaning. Building waste — offcuts, plasterboard, rubble — needs a skip or a licensed waste carrier; that is a different service and a different licence.
Should the carpets go down before or after you come?
After. Fitting carpets before the builders clean means fine dust works into the pile and you will need carpet extraction on top. If the carpets are already down, we can clean them with hot-water extraction on the same visit.
Do you clean the outside of the windows?
Ground-floor and anything safely reachable, yes. Upper floors need a window-cleaning setup rather than a cleaning team, so we will tell you honestly rather than half-do it.
How long does it take?
A single room after a small job is half a day. A full house after an extension is usually one to two days with a team, depending on how much of the property the dust reached.
Can you work to a builder's or developer's handover checklist?
Yes. Send it over before the visit and we work to it, so what you sign off against is the same document we cleaned to.
