New flats are dirty in a way nobody expects

Camden Town: flats above shops, and stairs that are the front door
North of the lock, most flats sit over a shop or a restaurant. The way in is a narrow street door, a steep staircase and no lift, and everything we bring goes up it by hand. The extract from the kitchen below runs past some of these flats, which is why greasy film on the inside of a rear window is a Camden problem more than an Islington one.
It is honest work and we price it honestly: a second-floor flat over a restaurant with no lift takes longer than the same flat in a block, and we would rather say so in the quote than discover it on the stairs.

Questions we are asked most
What is a sparkle clean and do I need one?
It is the last clean before a flat is seen or handed over: glass, frames, every reveal, appliances stripped of film, and the floor done last. You need it if anyone is going to walk in and judge the property — a viewing, a completion, or a client's first day. A builders' clean gets the site out; a sparkle clean makes it look finished.
There is no lift and the flat is on the second floor. Does that change anything?
It changes the time, not the standard. Tell us when you book and we send the right number of people and the right kit, rather than one person and a machine that will not go up the stairs.
Do you clean before the last trade has been back?
We would rather not, and we will say so. If a decorator is returning for touch-ups, cleaning first means paying for the same clean twice. If the date cannot move, we clean in stages and come back for the final pass.
Is King's Cross inside the Congestion Charge zone?
The northern boundary runs along Euston Road and Pentonville Road, so King's Cross station sits right on the line and most of NW1 above it is outside. Where a job falls inside the zone we say so before you book, not on the invoice.
